A decision has been made to sentence Ekrem Imamoglu, the chairman of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, who was removed from his post, to one year and eight months in prison.

It was reported that Ekrem İmamoğlu was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison without a political ban in the trial that began on charges of "publicly insulting a public official due to his position", "threatening" and "targeting individuals who have taken on positions in the fight against terrorism" for statements he made about Istanbul Chief Prosecutor Akın Gurlek and his family in January of this year.
