Turkiye issues heatwave warning as temperatures set to soar

Turkiye’s Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, has issued a public warning about a sharp rise in temperatures across the country.

Axar.az reports that the minister stated on his social media account that starting from July 19, temperatures in Turkiye are expected to increase by 6 to 12 degrees Celsius for a period of one week.

“We must act more cautiously than ever to protect our health and prevent possible forest fires,” Kurum emphasized.

The minister also noted that temperatures in Diyarbakir province could reach up to 45°C.
