Excavations in the ancient city of Smyrna in Turkey's Izmir province have uncovered a statue of Satyros, a mythological creature.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The report says that the historical artefact discovered during archaeological excavations in the ancient theatre building contained hunting equipment.

It should be noted that the ancient city of Smyrna covers the three-thousand-year history of Izmir.
