On October 31, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the Zigh Electric Bus Park in Baku.
Axar.az reports that the President was presented with electric vehicles, specifically the "BYD" brand buses and "TX5" electric taxis manufactured by the People's Republic of China.
The Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, informed President Ilham Aliyev about the work being carried out.
It was noted that the total area of the Zigh Electric Bus Park is 5.4 hectares. The park has the capacity for 210 electric buses and includes 60 charging stations.
Currently, the bus fleet consists of 160 electric buses of the "BYD" brand manufactured by the People's Republic of China.
The President was provided with details regarding the technical specifications of the buses.
It was pointed out that the buses produced in 2024 have a service life of 15 years, with a passenger capacity of 83 people. The vehicle is slightly over 12 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and more than 3 meters high.
One hundred chargers manufactured by the "Luobinsen" company will support the operation of the buses. Each charger has a charging power of 320 kW and features numerous protection functions against overvoltage, current, phase loss, and more. The chargers will be installed in various locations throughout the city.
At the same time, it was highlighted that the electric "LEVC TX5" plug-in hybrid taxis are of British origin but produced in China. These vehicles meet "Euro-6" standards and have a charging time of 30 minutes. They can travel 130 kilometers solely on electric power and 600 kilometers when using a connected gasoline generator. The car is also equipped with modern safety systems, including emergency braking, tire pressure monitoring, and road sign recognition.
The bus park will also feature a repair center, an administrative building, a transformer station, and service and technical areas. The Route Monitoring Center is designed to efficiently track and manage the movement routes, schedules, and passenger safety of the buses. It is planned to operate 24 hours a day in three shifts, providing jobs for 83 people.
It is worth noting that reducing carbon emissions has become a global goal. Azerbaijan has also identified priorities to achieve this target. The use of green technologies is one of the steps taken in this direction. The "Eco Bus" project aims to expand the use of green technologies.
