Azerbaijan is one of the UK's most valuable partners in the region (South Caucasus - ed.).
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Lord John Alderdays, the UK's trade envoy for Azerbaijan and Central Asia.
"Azerbaijan is one of the UK's most valuable partners in the region. I am very encouraged by what I have seen here, and I am confident that the Azerbaijan-UK partnership will continue to develop in the years to come," he said.
J. Alderdays said that this was his first visit to Azerbaijan as a trade envoy.
He noted that in recent days he has traveled from the east of the country - from the Caspian Sea coast to Nakhchivan in the west, during which he held meetings with President Ilham Aliyev, heads of ministries, and government officials:
"We all share the desire to deepen the partnership between the UK and Azerbaijan in many key sectors of the economy. I am proud that we have deepened our cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership, building on and going beyond decades of economic relations, as well as learning from each other."
The trade envoy stressed that the parties are working on several joint projects in the areas of "clean energy, infrastructure of the Central Corridor, economic diversification, and education:
"This trip has shown me that we can achieve more together as strategic partners. I leave with great enthusiasm and a positive feeling about the UK-Azerbaijan relationship."
