U.S. reportedly offered Maduro to go to Turkiye

On December 23, 2025, the United States reportedly offered Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro the option to leave the country and go to Turkiye.

Axar.az reports that an unnamed U.S. official told The New York Times (NYT) about this.

However, the Venezuelan president “angrily rejected” the plan. Maduro’s reaction made it clear that he does not intend to seriously consider Washington’s proposals.

It should be noted that on January 3, the U.S. carried out a military operation in Venezuela, during which special forces captured Nicolás Maduro and his wife. They have now been brought to New York.
