The results of the presidential elections held in Iran will not affect the policy of the United States regarding this country.

Axar.az reports that the US State Department informed about this.

"The elections will not seriously affect our approach to Iran," said the US official.

According to him, Washington's concern about Tehran has not changed:

"At the same time, we remain committed to diplomacy that serves America's interests."

He claimed that the elections in Iran "were not held in a free and fair manner".

"We do not expect that these elections will lead to fundamental changes in the direction of Iran's development or to greater respect for the human rights of its citizens."
