Azerbaijan has consistently been a key player in the opening of communication lines in the region. Within the framework of the trilateral statement, efforts have been made for a long time to advance this process. Regardless of the statements made by Armenia, it has undertaken certain obligations in this direction.

Axar.az reports that Ayxan Hacızadə, the head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this in an interview.

He noted that Article 9 of the trilateral statement clearly outlines Armenia's obligations and how control over transport links will be organized:

"However, Armenia has not fulfilled its written and signed obligations regarding the opening of communications connecting Azerbaijan's western regions with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic over the past four years. Azerbaijan has always been interested in implementing relevant infrastructure and transport projects in the liberated territories, has been working in this direction, and continues to do so. On the other hand, Armenia has only attempted to obstruct this process over the past four years. In response, Azerbaijan has also worked on developing alternative options for communication projects. This is demonstrated by the recent agreement and ongoing work on the construction of a road and railway through Iranian territory to provide access to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, showing that, unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan is positively contributing to the development of transport corridors in the region.

If Armenia is genuinely interested in opening communications in the region, it must fulfill its obligations. Armenia's non-constructive stance once again demonstrates its policy of self-isolation."
