The detention of Russian journalists in the U.S. is contrary to the principles of media freedom.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President.

"After completing all formalities and going through all procedures to obtain entry permits, such treatment of journalists is against the principles of media freedom. And, of course, this is unacceptable to us," he stated.

It is noted that Vladimir Borovikov, a cameraman from "Izvestia," was detained at an American airport, interrogated for 10 hours, and then had his visa cancelled. He reported that he was left without communication during this entire time and that even after boarding the plane, he was not allowed to have his phone.
