A delegation led by the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, has arrived at the Milli Majlis (Parliament).

It is reported that the guests were welcomed by Speaker Sahiba Gafarova.

The Chairman of the People's Council first got acquainted with the plenary session hall of the Milli Majlis.

The guests who came to the memorial hall named after the great leader Heydar Aliyev viewed exhibits reflecting different periods of the life and political activities of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.

The Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, wrote his heartfelt words in the Memorial Book here.

Then, a meeting was held between the parties in an expanded format.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, expressed her belief that this visit would serve the development and strengthening of relations between the countries:

"The common history, culture, language, religion, and family values, and similarities of the peoples form the foundation of relations between our countries. After gaining independence, extensive relations between our countries have been established on this solid foundation. Mutual visits and meetings at the highest level play an exceptional role in strengthening and deepening interstate relations. Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan successfully cooperate in a number of international organizations. The constant support of the Turkmen side to the initiatives of Azerbaijan as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement is highly appreciated."

It was also noted at the meeting that the existing contractual and legal basis between the countries is very extensive and covers political, economic, trade, humanitarian, and other areas of cooperation.

The Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, shared his high impressions of the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and the discussions held within the framework of this visit.

During the conversation, the guest shared his views on regional issues, gender issues, youth policy, economic relations, the activities of the intergovernmental commission, parliamentary diplomacy, interparliamentary dialogue, and other topics.

The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
