As previously reported, two vessels carrying 25 Azerbaijani citizens were struck in the Sea of Azov overnight, resulting in the deaths of five Azerbaijani nationals.
Axar.az reports that relatives of those killed have spoken about the tragedy.
One of the deceased was 50-year-old Rajab Ahadov, a resident of Neftchala district. His father, Firudin Ahadov, recalled his final conversation with his son:
“The last time I spoke with my son, he said everything was fine and told me not to worry. He said they were waiting for cargo. He also said he would inform me before departure. That was our last conversation. This morning, after 10 a.m., we received this devastating news.”
Another victim was 29-year-old Mammad Aliyev from the village of Ashagi Tala in the Zaqatala district.
His brother, Elvin Aliyev, also commented on the incident:
“My brother had been working in this field for more than five years. He was a captain’s assistant. This morning I found out he had passed away. A friend from another vessel called and informed me of the news. They said the body will be brought back in two days. As a brother, I am now waiting for him. He was married and had one child,” he said.
