Bodies of Azov Sea strike victims returned to Azerbaijan

The bodies of Gismat Aliyev (born 1969) and Fuad Orujov (born 1981), who were killed in a drone strike on a cargo ship in the Sea of Azov on June 5, have been repatriated to Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that their remains were brought into the country through the Yalama Border Crossing Point earlier today. The bodies will be handed over to their families and laid to rest following funeral ceremonies.

It should be noted that on the night of June 5, two foreign cargo ships — the dry cargo vessels Natra and Zirkon — were hit by drones in the Sea of Azov. The attack left four Azerbaijani citizens dead and four others injured.

The 19 surviving Azerbaijani crew members from both ships were returned to the country the previous evening.
