Lake Urmia is in danger: earth's surface is collapsing

The surface of Lake Urmia, which is facing an environmental disaster, has collapsed and landslides are occurring.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Ali Baitullahi, head of the Seismic Engineering and Risk Department of the Research Center of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

According to him, cracks and landslides were recorded on the eastern shores of Lake Urmia, in the area between the port of Dizaj Khalil and Sharafkhana:

"Landslides and landslides were observed in the West Azerbaijan region after a 70% decrease in groundwater. After the water level of Lake Urmia decreased, a subsidence occurred on the eastern shores of the lake."
