A hybrid solar eclipse will occur on April 20, 2023.

Axar.az reports citing the Department of Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics of Baku State University.

A hybrid solar eclipse is a rare type of solar eclipse that changes its appearance as the Moon's shadow moves across the earth's surface. Totality occurs in a narrow path across the surface of the Earth, with the partial solar eclipse visible over a surrounding region thousands of kilometers wide. Hybrid solar eclipses are extremely rare with only 3.1% of solar eclipses in the 21st century, hybrid eclipses.

The eclipse will begin at 05:34:22 Baku time on April 20 and end at 10:59:18, lasting 5 hours and 25 minutes.

The maximum of the eclipse will be at 08:16:49. The total eclipse will begin at 06:36:56 and end at 09:56:36, lasting 3 hours 19 minutes 40 seconds. The eclipse will be observed in Southeast Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and Antarctica. The eclipse will not be observed on the territory of Azerbaijan.

The 2nd solar eclipse of 2023 will occur on October 14.
