Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared that Russia has “won the war” in Ukraine, days before a planned summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that in an interview with the Patriot YouTube channel, Orban said Ukraine had lost and the West would eventually have to acknowledge this.

He was the only EU leader to reject a joint statement affirming Ukraine’s right to decide its own future.

Orban, a long-time ally of Putin, has opposed sending weapons to Kyiv and blocked Ukraine’s EU membership bid. He warned that Europe risked being sidelined in negotiations, saying the EU looked “ridiculous and pathetic” if left out of U.S.-Russia talks.
