CEC confirmed the results of the presidential elections

The meeting of the Plenum of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan has started.

Axar.az reports that the issue of approving the protocol of the Central Election Commission (CEC) on the results of the extraordinary presidential elections held on February 7 and the results of the elections are being discussed at the meeting.

At the meeting of the Plenum of the Constitutional Court regarding the presidential elections, the deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court, the reporter Judge Sona Salmanova said that the protocol of the Central Election Commission (CEC) on the general results of the voting in connection with the extraordinary presidential elections held on February 7 was reviewed by the constitutional procedure.

S. Salmanova noted that the CEC summarized the information received from all precincts about the results of the elections and submitted it to the Constitutional Court together with the relevant documents for the approval of the election protocol.

Judge Kamran Shafiyev, the rapporteur, said that the elections were held by the legislation. He noted that according to the protocol of the election results, Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev won the majority of the votes.

The chairman of the CEC said that 7 people have registered their candidacies for the presidency.

He noted that the elections were monitored by 72 prestigious international organizations and 790 international observers from 89 countries.

M. Panahov reminded that webcams were installed in 1,000 polling stations: "Voter turnout was 76.43 per cent."

According to the decision of the CEC, violations of the law that did not allow the determination of the will of the voters were found in Ganja-Samukh-Goranboy constituency number 38, Gusar constituency number 7 and 27, Salyan-Bilasuvar-Neftchala constituency number 65 and Salyan-Bilasuvar-Neftchala constituency number 9, 68. No. 2 of Sabirabad-Shirvan electoral district, No. 7 and No. 31 of Lankaran city electoral district No. 77, No. 6 of Goychay-Aghdash electoral district No. 92, No. 2 of Barda electoral district No. 99, No. 1 and No. 115 of Sheki city electoral district No. 114 the results of the voting on polling stations No. 6 of the village electoral district were considered invalid and the precinct election commissions of those polling stations were dissolved.

M. Panahov said that the annulment of the election results in these precincts did not affect the overall result:

"I think that the Constitutional Court can approve the document submitted by the CEC regarding the election results."
