The decrease in the water level of the Caspian Sea along Iran's coast raises concerns.

Axar.az reports that Umid Sadiqi, head of Iran's Environmental Protection Organization, mentioned this in an interview with ISNA.

"Within the next 20 years, a quarter of the sea could dry up. Caspian Sea countries need to approach this issue with sensitivity. 5% of the water flowing into the Caspian comes from Iranian rivers, while 85% comes from the Volga River. As a result, we need to cooperate and coordinate more with Russia. Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan also have rivers that flow into the Caspian, and we need to work with these countries as well. The lowering of the Caspian Sea level is a very important and sensitive issue."
