An Azerbaijani judoka won a gold medal at the European Junior Cup held in Poreč, Croatia.

Axar.az reports that the athlete, who took to the tatami in the 52 kg weight category, defeated her rivals from Moldova, Sweden, Canada, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, respectively, and entered the final.

Aysun Mammadova, who defeated Swiss judoka Lya Monney in the decisive match, won the first medal for our national team.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented by 14 female athletes in 5 weight categories in the competition. 813 athletes from 37 countries are participating in the European Cup.
