The U.S. has imposed sanctions on Hossein Shamkhani, the son of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s advisor, Ali Shamkhani, as well as on more than 50 individuals and entities.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in a press release by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

“Shamkhani’s shipping empire has been involved in transporting oil and goods from Iran and Russia to international markets, bringing billions of dollars in revenue to the regime,” the statement said.

The sanctions are part of the U.S.’s maximum pressure campaign against Iran and are based on a 2023 executive order.
