Ukraine halts Russian oil platform in Caspian Sea

Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) drones have halted operations at an oil production platform in the Caspian Sea.

Axar.az informs, citing Ukraine-RBC, long-range drones of the Alpha Special Operations Center of the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) struck the Filanovsky oil production platform, which belongs to Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft.

It is emphasized that this is the first time Ukraine has struck Russian infrastructure related to oil production in the Caspian Sea.

It is reported that at least four impacts on the offshore platform were recorded as a result of the attack, and oil and gas extraction from more than 20 wells was halted.

The Filanovsky field is one of the largest discovered in Russia and in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. Its reserves amount to 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. The extracted resources were exported via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
