Peter Magyar declares victory over Orban in Hungary election

“Together we got rid of Orban’s regime! We have jointly liberated Hungary and reclaimed our homeland!” said Peter Magyar, the leader of the Tisza Party, which defeated Viktor Orban in the parliamentary elections.

Axar.az reports that he also announced swift steps to unlock EU funds and repair relations with international partners.

“Hungary’s place was, is, and will always be in Europe,” Magyar said, adding that his first foreign visits would be to Warsaw, Vienna, and Brussels.

“We don’t want propaganda anymore, we don’t want Russia or corruption. We want freedom and a country where everyone is welcome,” he added.

Magyar also directly stated his intention to strengthen defense capabilities within NATO:

"We will restore the functioning of institutions that ensure democracy and its independence. Hungary will once again become a strong ally in the European Union and NATO," Magyar stressed.

It should be noted that Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyar declared victory on April 12 after his Tisza party claimed a landslide win over Viktor Orban's ruling Fidesz party.
