Azerbaijan and Armenia help evacuate Russians from Iran

Baku and Yerevan have provided significant assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran.

Axar.az informs that this was stated in an interview with TASS by Alexey Klimov, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

“Significant assistance in evacuating our compatriots from Iran was provided by Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In particular, Baku allowed Russian citizens to use the Astara border crossing, which had been closed for individual crossings since 2020, following a prior request from the Russian embassy in Tehran,” the diplomat said.
