Peskov warns Armenia over gas prices

Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Russia and Armenia remain friends and continue to maintain dialogue as members of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Axar.az reports that speaking at a briefing, he stressed that Moscow and Yerevan are “absolutely” in a friendly relationship and are engaged in one of the most advanced integration processes.

Peskov added that Russia is aware of political forces in Armenia that support closer ties with Moscow and deeper participation in Russian-led integration structures, noting that the Kremlin views such an approach positively.

Peskov also noted that Armenia currently receives Russian gas at highly favorable prices, adding that such conditions would not be possible for countries integrated into other blocs such as the European Union, where energy prices are market-based.
