5.6-magnitude quake shakes China

A shallow earthquake of magnitude 5.6 struck northwestern China’s Qinghai province early on Wednesday.

Axar.az reports, citing Chinese media, that the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) made the announcement.

It said the tremor struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, in Haixi Prefecture at 5.36 am.

The US Geological Survey registered the tremor at a magnitude of 5.9.

No casualties were immediately reported.
