French President Emmanuel Macron met with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, on Monday.

Axar.az reports that the meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.

Macron said the two sides agreed to work together to ease tensions in energy markets by protecting critical infrastructure in the Middle East and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

“We will also join forces to seek a moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Civilians must be protected, and we must urgently begin serious negotiations on the terms of peace between Russia and Ukraine,” he wrote on X.
