Afghan official says 2 killed in Pakistani cross-border fire

At least two individuals were killed and two others injured when Pakistani troops opened fire in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province on Wednesday.

Axar.az reports, citing Xinhua, that according to provincial government office, the incident took place in the Khanabad area through the Torkham border crossing.

On Wednesday, Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense reported that Afghan forces had conducted retaliatory strikes after Pakistani armed forces launched four drone attacks against a border commissariat and adjacent security installations in eastern Paktika province.

The ministry asserted that these counter-operations inflicted casualties among Pakistani personnel.

Cross-border skirmishes and intermittent aerial strikes have persisted since February, producing casualties and material damage on both sides, with each nation accusing the other of initiating the hostilities.
