Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov held several meetings in Czech Republic within the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland) and of the Eastern Partnership Countries.
Elmar Mammadyarov delivered speech at the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Visegrad Group and of the Eastern Partnership Countries. The minister spoke about the EU-Azerbaijan relations within the Eastern Partnership and underlined the importance of cooperation with Visegrad Group. He stressed that the growth in number of the EU partners inspires Azerbaijan to continue cooperation with the organization under the terms of the strategic partnership. Azerbaijan has presented to the EU a draft agreement on strategic partnership, the minister recalled, expressing confidence that the agreement will raise bilateral cooperation to a higher level and will play the role of a platform for future EU-Azerbaijan relations.
Mammadyarov held bilateral meetings with FMs of Czech Republic, Hungary, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus, as well as with Sweden's state minister and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Netherlands. The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, regional security issues and various aspects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed during these meetings. FMs of the Czech Republic and Hungary expressed support to the draft agreement on the strategic partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan and their readiness to support Azerbaijan within Visegrad Group and Eastern Partnership platform.
