Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed was awarded the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize. Berit Reiss-Andersen bestowed the politician with the corresponding medal and diploma during a ceremony in Oslo.

Axar.az reports citing BBC.

He was awarded the prize for his initiative to end the decades long conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea, which saw more than 300 thousand people killed on both sides, as well as for his reforms in the country’s social, political and economic spheres.

Reiss-Andersen stressed that by giving the prize to Abiy, tribute was being paid to all sides that were involved in the peace-making process.
