Vahagn Khachatryan has been elected President of Armenia.
Axar.az reports that in the second attempt, the parliament was able to elect the fifth head of state.
71 deputies voted in favor of the candidate from the ruling "Civil Contract".
It should be noted that in the first round of elections, V. Khachatryan failed to get the required 81 votes due to the boycott of opposition deputies. According to the Constitution, in the second round, 3/5 of the deputies' votes are enough. There are 107 deputies in the Armenian parliament, of which 3/5 are 69 deputies. The Civil Contract faction has more than 70 deputies.
