We have statistical figures: the number of our conscripts has decreased year by year. In the last 15 years, each year there have been fewer conscripts than the previous year.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by Ayk Sarkisyan, a deputy of the ruling Civil Contract faction of the Armenian Parliament, in a meeting with journalists.

He said that these statistics are worrying.

"Citizens do not want to serve, they leave the country to avoid military service and renounce their citizenship.

In 2010, we had more than 44,000 conscripts, over the next 9 years, this number decreased by 44 per cent, and now it is 24,000."
