Tehran regime harasses and arrests southern activists

A report on the arrest of national-cultural activists from South Azerbaijan was presented at the 16th Forum of National Minorities of the United Nations.

Axar.az reports that the Azerbaijan Human Rights Society (HRS) has released information about this.

Speaking at the forum, the representative of the society, Mansour Seyfi, spoke about the discriminatory policies of the Iranian government against non-Persian nationalities:

"Iran's security system continuously pursues and arrests South Azerbaijani activists who work for their national identity."

Seyfi informed about the activists who are currently detained in Iranian prisons and called their arrest an arbitrary act carried out without any legal basis.

The report called for the release of national activists held in Iranian prisons.
