American pilot Dick Rutan, who made the first non-stop flight around the world, died at the age of 85.

Axar.az reports that Dick Rutan died at a hospital in Idaho, the agency said.

According to his friend Bill Whittle, the pilot had a severe lung infection.

It should be noted that in 1986, Dick Rutan and co-pilot Gene Yeager made a non-stop round-the-world tour for the first time in the history of aviation. The flight took 9 days and 3 minutes.
