The Russian government is preparing to declare part of the waters near the Gulf of Finland in the east and near the towns of Baltiysk and Zelenogradsk in the Kaliningrad region as internal waters of the Russian Federation.

Axar.az reports this based on the draft resolution of the Moscow Times government.

The document states that the geographic coordinates established in 1985 do not fully correspond to the current geographical situation.

Specifically, the Russians seek to adjust the coordinates in the territory of the Yagry, Sommers, Holland, Rodsher, Malyy Tyuters, Viqrund islands along the Finnish border, as well as near the northern entrance of the Narva River.

They also intend to make changes along the border with Lithuania in the Kursh and Taran regions, as well as extending from the Taran zone to the Baltic Sea.

Subsequently, Russia aims to change its maritime border.

It is noted that this resolution is being discussed almost simultaneously with the start of tactical nuclear weapons exercises."
