The US encourages Baku and Yerevan to do so - O'Brien

The US is encouraging Azerbaijan and Armenia to conclude a peace agreement in the coming weeks and months.

Axar.az reports that this was said by US Deputy Secretary of State James O'Brien, who is on a visit to Armenia.

"Both sides decide what role we will play or not. We do not pretend to be a superpower in the region. We are simply here to support the legitimate desire of the peoples of the region to conclude a long-term peace agreement. At the current stage, the parties are quite capable of direct negotiations with each other," J. O'Brien said.
