The European Union (EU) supports the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Abu Dhabi on July 10.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the EU's official representative for foreign policy and security policy, Anita Hipper.

According to her, the EU strongly supports the process of normalization of relations between the two countries.

"The EU previously welcomed the conclusion of negotiations on the draft agreement on peace and the establishment of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia in March 2025," Hipper noted, emphasizing that the current meeting is an important step towards establishing lasting peace and security in the region.

"We call on the parties to proceed to the signing and ratification of the draft peace agreement as soon as possible. If the parties so wish, the EU is ready to provide additional support and expertise," the EU representative said.

It should be noted that on July 10, a meeting was held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to discuss the peace agenda between the two countries.
