The “Baku 2025” operational-tactical exercise was organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).

Axar.az reports that the exercise was organized in the territory of the Baku International Sea Port, located in the Alat settlement of the Garadagh district of Baku city.

The exercise, which was held on the topic of “Organization of interaction with state bodies in the field of prevention of emergencies and elimination of their consequences,” was watched by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, heads of emergency response agencies of member countries of the International Civil Protection Organization, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the State Agency for Protection of Strategic Facilities, the State Reserves Agency, ANAMA, TABIB, AZCON, SOCAR, bp, the Public Council under the MES and other organizations.

The training was held to implement the mechanism of joint action of rescue forces and means in large-scale emergencies, determine their real capabilities, improve the management system, and, in this regard, increase the operational readiness of headquarters, conduct emergency rescue and other urgent work, organize interaction and comprehensive support.

First, a review of the equipment and facilities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as other organizations participating in the training, was held.

Then, a video link was established at the training headquarters with the crisis management centers of the organizations responsible for managing emergencies, and reports were made by the relevant organizations on the work done in connection with the training.

Then, the practical part of the training began.

By the training plan, a conventional destructive earthquake occurred 110 km southeast of Baku, with its epicenter in the Caspian Sea. As a result of the “earthquake”, high-rise buildings and industrial enterprises in several cities and regions collapsed, and infrastructure networks were disrupted. It was reported that there were deaths among citizens and those trapped under the rubble.

In connection with the conditional incident, the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, in coordination with relevant state agencies, immediately began to carry out search and rescue, extinguishing fires caused by the earthquake, and other necessary and urgent measures. A “fire and rescue operation” was successfully carried out in connection with the elimination of the consequences of the conditional earthquake.

At the end, a parade of helicopters flying over the training area with the State Flag of Azerbaijan and the flag of the International Civil Defense Organization was held.

It should be noted that, in addition to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Digital Development and Transport, the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Facilities, the State Reserves Agency, ANAMA, TABIB, AZCON, SOCAR and BP, a total of 1,250 personnel, 8 helicopters, 277 special-purpose equipment and 14 specially trained dogs participated in the training.
