Azerbaijan has slightly improved its position in UEFA’s club rankings.
Axar.az reports that this improvement was made possible by Qarabağ’s 1–0 victory over Ireland’s Shelbourne in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round (the first leg ended 3–0). This success earned Azerbaijan an additional 0.250 points.
As a result, Azerbaijan’s total points rose to 18.375, allowing the country to move up from 29th to 28th place, overtaking Russia (18.299).
Ukraine, in 27th place, is just ahead of Azerbaijan with 18.725 points.
It’s also worth noting that Azerbaijan has a good chance to earn more points this week, as its three representatives in the UEFA Conference League — Zira, Sabah, and Araz Nakhchivan — will play their second-leg matches in the second round on July 31.
