An accident occurred on the Sahand destroyer of the Iranian navy near the city of Bandar-Abbas in the Hormuzgan province of Iran.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media.

"The cause of the accident was probably the failure of the ship's balancing tank or the leakage of water after repairs to the frigate's shaft," the information stated.

Several people were injured as a result of the accident.

As a result of the accident, the destroyer overturned and half of it sank.

It should be noted that Sahand is the first Iranian destroyer built by local specialists without the help of other countries. It was launched in December 2018 and is equipped with anti-aircraft artillery and missiles.
