War in Ukraine keeps Russia from recession

The war in Ukraine is the only factor preventing Russia from falling into recession.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by economists participating in a survey by Business Insider.

They noted that Russia's enormous military budget is currently bolstering its weak economy:

"However, this is a temporary solution to Russia's growing economic issues, including rising inflation and currency-budget problems.

The Russian economy is now supported by substantial state spending, so there will be no slowdown in any sector of the economy that the government purchases from. Thus, if there were no war, yes, it would certainly fall into recession immediately."
