French President Emmanuel Macron and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a telephone conversation.
Axar.az reports that the Elysee Palace issued a statement in this regard.
Macron told Netanyahu that the time has come for a cease-fire in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. During the long conversation, Macron and Netanyahu openly discussed the situation in the Middle East, taking into account the friendly nature of relations between France and Israel. The leaders of the two countries admitted that they had differences of opinion, but at the same time expressed their desire to be understood by each other," the Elysee Palace said in a news release.
Macron confirmed his commitment to Israel's security, while Netanyahu said that the Jewish state expects support from France, not restrictions.
In a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, it was emphasized that Netanyahu told Macron that "stopping arms aid to Israel will strengthen Iran".
"Israel expects its friends to stand behind it and not impose restrictions that will strengthen Iran's evil axis."
It should be noted that earlier Macron called for the cessation of arms aid to Israel. Netanyahu responded harshly and emphasized that those who make this call will be disgraced.
