India temple fireworks injure more than 150 people

At least 154 people were injured, including nine seriously, when fireworks detonated during a festival at the in India late Monday into Tuesday.

Axar.az reports that ,citing Indian Ekspress, according to police reports, the incident occurred during the annual kaliyattam ritual, also known as theyyam, which drew thousands of attendees. The explosion happened when sparks ignited firecrackers stored in a shed, or magazine, located less than 100 meters from the designated fireworks area. Police stated that while the fireworks were being displayed, sparks fell onto the magazine, triggering a series of explosions.

Panic ensued among the crowd, leading to numerous burn injuries.

Oficcials informed that the temple authorities did not obtain permission to conduct the fireworks display, and the police have detained the committee members.
