The brother of Syria’s ousted leader Bashar al-Assad, Maher al-Assad, the commander of the 4th Army Corps and known as the "Butcher of Aleppo," has been detained.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by Turkish media.

It was stated that he was captured at the border while attempting to cross from Syria into Lebanon.
