An investigation has been launched against the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu.

Axar.az reports that this information was provided by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the information, the reason for the investigation is İmamoğlu’s remarks about Istanbul’s Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gurlek and his family during a television program he attended.

"The Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, is facing an official investigation on charges of 'targeting individuals working in counter-terrorism and threat prevention' due to his threatening remarks against Istanbul’s Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gurlek and his family during a program he participated in," the statement reads.
