A firefighting helicopter crashed Sunday while battling a wildfire in the southeastern city of Daegu, killing the pilot aboard.

Axar.az reports according to Yonhap agency, the helicopter went down on a mountain in a northwestern district of Daegu, about 230 kilometers southeast of Seoul, at 3:41 p.m., according to firefighting authorities.

The incident comes after the country experienced its worst wildfires on record last month, which killed 30 people and burned more than 48,000 hectares (118,610 acres) of forest, according to government data.
