A road is being constructed along the Araz River on the Azerbaijan-Iran border.
Axar.az informs this was reported by the "Azad Iran" Telegram channel.
It was noted that after two years of discussions on the construction of the Zangezur highway, the Iranian government has finally reached an agreement with Azerbaijan, based on a contract, to soon begin construction of the Baku-Agbend-Kelaleh-Julfa highway.
It was reported that Azerbaijan, by allocating substantial financial resources, has completed more than 60 percent of this project on its own territory up to Iran’s Kelaleh crossing, including successfully finishing the construction of a bridge and a terminal.
"The mentioned terminal will be built on a 19-hectare area between Iran's Kelaleh and Azerbaijan's Agbend settlements. In addition to the terminal, Azerbaijan has also started asphalting a significant portion of this major road construction project.
However, the section from Iran’s Kelaleh to the Nakhchivan border is nearly 107 kilometers long. The road under construction is approximately 14 meters wide across two separate lanes. Since November of last year, the construction has been carried out by the 'Ashura' company of the 'Khatam al-Anbiya' headquarters.
According to the published documents, since there is no railway in this area between Iran and Azerbaijan, a decision has been made to construct a 53-kilometer railway line along the southern banks of the Araz River in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province."
