Death toll in Northern Cyprus shipwreck rises to 13

The death toll from a passenger ship that sank off the coast of Girne in Northern Cyprus has risen to 13.

Axar.az reports that Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel announced the latest figures in a post on X.

According to him, the body of another victim was recovered, bringing the death toll to 13, while 15 people remain missing. Search and rescue operations are continuing.

The prime minister said private companies would be involved in the search and rescue efforts and that consultations would also be held with Turkiye.

It should be noted that the passenger ship sank off the coast of Girne on August 30.
