Swedish media have highlighted 18-year-old Rihad Alakbarov, who is running for a seat on the Gavle municipal council as a candidate for the Moderate Party in the upcoming municipal elections.

Axar.az reports that Swedish broadcaster SVT has produced a report on the youngest and oldest candidates running for the Gavle municipal council. The youngest candidate, Rihad Alakbarov, turned 18 just a few days ago. The oldest candidate is 95-year-old Ken Kubulenso, a Jamaica-born representative of the Green Party.

Despite a 77-year age gap, both candidates said they want to contribute to the development of society and shared their views on politics and life.

In an interview with the Swedish broadcaster, Rihad Alakbarov also spoke about an issue on which his position differs from that of many members of his party. He said he supports maintaining Sweden’s state monopoly on alcohol sales, while many representatives of the Moderate Party support abolishing the monopoly.

At the end of the interview, 95-year-old Ken Kubulenso offered advice to the young candidate, encouraging him to stay involved in politics and continue working to improve and develop society.
