Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has ordered the establishment of a commission to conduct a comprehensive review of the situation at the Defense Ministry.

Axar.az reports, citing local media, that the press service of the Kazakh president made the announcement.

“To conduct a comprehensive review of the situation at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including financial and logistical support for military units, establish a commission to comprehensively inspect the situation at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the presidential order said.

Aida Balayeva, Deputy Chair of Kazakhstan’s Security Council, has been appointed head of the commission. The commission is to report its initial findings within seven days.

It should be noted that on September 24, during exercises in the Caspian Sea, military personnel were swept into the sea after weather conditions deteriorated sharply. Fourteen people lost their lives in the incident.
