The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, visited the Bibiheybat Mosque on April 28.

Axar.az reports that the high-ranking guest was welcomed by the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, and the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Ramin Mammadov.

The Iranian President was informed about the Bibiheybat Mosque and stated that this mosque, which is the most important example of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan, was built in the 13th century by Mahmud ibn Saad over the grave of Hakima Khanum, the daughter of the seventh Imam Musa al-Kazim. Since she was a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), this place where Hakima Khanum's grave is located was considered sacred even before the construction of the mosque. With the construction of the mosque, it became a place of pilgrimage and worship for people.

It was noted that the mosque was destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936 during the struggle against religion in the territory of the former USSR. After the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence, the restoration of mosques began in the country. The reconstruction of the mosque at the site of its destruction is attributed to the name of the Great Leader, Heydar Aliyev, and the work on its complex formation is attributed to President Ilham Aliyev. It was specially noted that the mosque is under the attention of the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva.

The Iranian President visited the shrine of Hakima Khanum and wrote his heartfelt words in the guest book for honored guests.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, who had a cordial conversation over tea, presented each other with commemorative gifts.
