The leaders of the European Union (EU), like the United States, should hold negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as it will be impossible to achieve peace without doing so.

Axar.az reports this was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who also noted that European participation is essential for resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

"It is an illusion to believe that peace will be achieved [solely] through Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. European leaders will sooner or later have to negotiate with the Russian president. This is inevitable," Orban wrote.

The Prime Minister also noted that "Europe must decide whether to negotiate with Putin before or after the Americans."
